Christian Devotional – July 31, 2019

Would you recognize the sound of God? Elijah had to figure that out. Read 1 Kings 19:11-12.

So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord .” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord ; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing.

There were so many things that came through the mountains and yet Elijah knew what he was listening for. He knew what God sounded like and he recognized Him.

Would we recognize God moving? God is working and moving in oir lives every day. Do we see it and recognize it for what it is? Or do we miss out on the movement of God because we don’t know what that sounds or looks like?
