Read Jonah chapter 4

VERSE:

Jonah 4:4–But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”

TRUTH:

The city was saved, and Jonah was mad. Jonah had wanted to see them destroyed and even goes so far as to tell God that was why he ran away because he knew the Lord would save these people and he didn’t want them saved. God asks a question, “Is it right for you to be angry?” I think God often asks us a question because we get angry with God quite a bit. God doesn’t heal someone. God allows hardship and difficulties in our lives. God answers our prayers with a “no.” Each time, if we admit it to ourselves, we often get angry with God. The question is, is it right for us to be angry? God is working and moving with greater and higher purpose that we can ever imagine and working in such a way that will bring Him the most glory. God’s ways are higher than our ways. Because of this, is it right for us to get angry? We get angry when we can’t control things and often we try to control God and get angry when we can’t. Are we trusting God today to be who He is no matter what He allows in our lives?

RESPONSE:

Father, I will praise You through the good times and through the bad times. I know that You are always in control and have the very best in mind. Forgive me when I get upset and impatient about the things that are going on in my life. I will continue to move forward and praise You in and through all things and circumstances.
