The One Jesus Loved, Day 11

We are not of the world. Looking around me at everything the world has become, it’s so easy to become frustrated. But, I am not of the world. Read 1 John 4:1-6.

I am not of the world. John makes it very clear that because we believe in Jesus Christ, we have nothing in common with the world anymore. Whether the world is on fire and things are going terribly or whether the world is seemingly not so bad right, either way we are not of the world. We are never gonna find our fulfillment or our satisfaction in what the world brings.

But more than that, we are not at the same level as the world either. Jesus Christ has overcome the world and because of our relationship with him, we have overcome the world too. We can see victory in our day to day life based upon our commitment and obedience to Jesus Christ. As we are following him, even when the world around us is terrible and falling apart, we can find our joy and satisfaction and meaning through Jesus Christ.

Have you overcome the world? If you have a relationship with Jesus Christ then the answer is yes. The real question then becomes are we experiencing the joy of victory in our life everyday knowing that regardless of the circumstances, Christ is greater and through him we have overcome?
