Christian Devotional – June 19, 2017

We’ve been talking about unity and purpose, but what are the point of these things? When we look at Ephesians chapter 4, we see in verses 14 through 16 that there is a definite reason behind why we are to be unified in our purpose for Jesus Christ. What is that reason? We are designed to grow. Growth does not just happen individually, it also happens as a body of Believers together. We grow together as we are unified in our purpose and using the gifts that God has given us. If a group of Believers is together, but not growing, then those believers are missing either their unity or their purpose.

Paul compares the Believers to a child, calling them the body of Christ. When a baby is born, we expect it to grow, to develop, and to mature. In fact, if it doesn’t, we become concerned and wonder if there’s something wrong. The same can be said about a body of believers. We must grow and mature in our relationship with Jesus Christ together as a body of believers who are Unified and following God’s purpose for them. Are you part of it group of believers? Are you United with them? And most importantly, are you all growing and maturing in Jesus Christ together?
