Elijah was a amazing person in the Bible. He was used by God in truly incredible ways, yet he was often depressed and struggled. We’re going to spend the next several weeks diving into the life of Elijah. Read 1 Kings 17:1.
Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord , the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”
1 KINGS 17:1 NASB

Elijah was a settler in the northern area of Israel and he went to the King of Israel and made this statement. No rain for 3 years. I can image King Ahab laughed and laughed at this audacious man who made such an unbelievable claim. Then it started to come true. No rain. Not even a little sprinkle or shower.
Elijah had made it clear that this was based on the fact that God was living and active. He stood on that truth and stood up in front of a King and told him what God had told him. No matter what his background was or where he had come from, he did what God had told him to.
Can we say the same thing? Are we willing to go and do what God tells us to do, no matter how strange it seems?
