Christian Devotional – June 26, 2015
VERSE:
Mark 6:31–Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
TRUTH:
Jesus did the ministry that He was called to do, but He didn’t work feverishly or to the point of utter exhaustion. He even coached his disciples to be sure they came with Him for a period of refreshing and renewing. Do we allow ourselves a time to be refreshed and renewed by God or are we working so much that we are becoming ineffective in our ministry because we haven’t taken the time to refresh ourselves? There is balance in everything and this is one area where most people tend to lean too far to one side or the other. We must find the balance between taking care of ourselves and taking of the needs of others for that balance is pleasing to God.
RESPONSE:
Father, help me know when it is time to take a break and refresh myself so that I am the most effective that I can be in the work that I do. Help me not to swing too far the other way and become too focused on my own self that I miss the opportunities to minister. Keep me balanced so that I am pleasing to You in both areas.
