Christian Devotional – June 27, 2019

Obedience. The widow heard the word of the Lord through Elijah. But more than just hearing, she took action. She followed through. Read 1 Kings 17:15-16.

So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke through Elijah.

God did what He said He would do. The widow trusted Elijah and followed through. Her obedience was a positive impact for both her and Elijah. Now, God would have provided for Elijah if the widow had been disobedient, but because she was obedient, the widow and her son were able to be part of God’s blessing.

Will we be obedient? Do we follow through on what God tells us to do? God is able to do anything, but if we want to share in all that He does, then we must do what He tells us to do.
