Endurance. God is faithful. That is who he is and is a characteristic of what makes him God. As a result, we can endure, knowing that he will always be faithful to us. Read James 5:9-11.

We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

One of the wonderful things about reading God’s word is the fact that we can see examples of how God has worked and moved throughout history. We can read about faithful servants of his who endured through the difficult times they were experiencing in their life. Job went through horrible trials and times, but God was faithful throughout. And as a result of his difficulties, Job came to know and understand God even better than he had before.

Occasionally, we go through struggles as a result of the consequences of our sin. But sometimes, we go through struggles simply because God wants to bring us through something so that we will know and understand him better. The key is endurance. When we are following God and obeying God and still going through difficulties, God is giving us an opportunity to endure and to understand him better. What are you learning about God today?
