Read Joshua chapter 7

VERSE:

Joshua 7:21–“When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver, and a gold bar weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”

TRUTH:

What was a the price of Achan’s disobedience? He was willing to disobey for a robe, 200 silver pieces and a gold bar. That was the price at which he was willing to disobey God. Because of his disobedience, 36 men lost their lives when they tried to defeat Ai, Achan and his sons and daughters were killed, along with all his possessions destroyed. Seems a steep price to pay, but we must remember that God has commanded all of us with complete obedience. When we disobey God, we open up ourselves and all those around us to the consequences of our sin. What is our price of disobedience? If there is any answer that we can give that will entice us away from our Lord, we’ve already betrayed Him, we’re just waiting for the right opportunity to act it out.

RESPONSE:

Father, there is nothing that this world has or can offer that I desire more than You. I don’t want it’s money, it’s fame, it’s prestige, it’s power, it’s friendship, nothing! I only desire You and I pray that You will help me keep my focus solely on You so that I am not distracted by things that are worth much less than You.
