VERSE:
Daniel 2:9–“If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one penalty for you. You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me.”
TRUTH:
The king had a dream that troubled him, but instead of just telling it to his wise men, he decided that he didn’t trust them to give a true interpretation. So, he figured that the best way to make sure that they knew what they were talking about with the dream was to have them tell him the dream first, then he would know that they actually had an interpretation that was real. This world is often untrusting and assumes the worst about people, so we understand exactly what the King was feeling. The wise men were stumped and had no idea what to do, which just verified to the king that they really didn’t know the interpretation, but had just been making up things. God is the one who knows all things and as He gave the king the dream, He was also able to make the dream known to another who was seeking Him. God did and Daniel was able to tell the king the dream and the interpretation and glorified God in the process.
RESPONSE:
Father, I want to trust those around me, but first I must completely trust You. I know that You are the one who is able to save me and You are the only One who can help me trust others and earn their trust as well. I pray You will work and move through me.
