VERSE:

2 Timothy 2:6–For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

TRUTH:

As believers in Jesus Christ, we have received the Holy Spirit. Christ has promised us that through the Spirit we have received a gift that we can use to glorify God. What we tend to forget is that the gift doesn’t automatically just bust into full bloom in us. We have to continue to fan it and grow it As we surrender more to the Lord, we allow the Spirit to move and work in our lives more, which enables our gift to grow in both power and intensity. You see, the power comes from the Holy Spirit working in us, not us working harder. We have to learn to get out of the way in order to see the flames that God is desiring to work in us. Are we trying to do God’s work for Him, or are we surrendering to Him so He can work through us?

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that You are the One who does the work. Help me to surrender to You more and more every day so that we are fanning into flames Your gift in my life. I desire to see You glorified in everything that I do and that only happens as I get out of the way. Thank You for all that You are doing in my life.
