James 2:12–Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom.
Earlier in the chapter, James explained that there is the law of love that we are to be following. Since we are all guilty of breaking the original law that god established (the 10 commandments), he explained that we are to be living under the law of love. Interestingly, the law of love encompasses all of the 10 commandments and so much more. If we are truly loving other people as God loves them, we will not allow them to stay in their sin and in their wrong-doings. We will treat them the way they should be treated. Some day, we as believers in Jesus Christ are going to be judged by the actions that we took as followers of Jesus Christ. Will our actions be consistent with the law of love that cares for people, but instead of “tolerance” in today’s society, takes action to help them out of their sin?
Father, I pray that You will show me more and more every day how I can be following the law that gives freedom. I appreciate all that You have done for me and the fact that You didn’t leave me in my sin. Help me to share Your truth with others because I love them and want them to experience Your best for them.
