Journey Through Ephesians, #23
Love and cherish. Just as we saw that a wife has a specific responsibility in the relationship, so does the husband. Read Ephesians 5:25-30.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His body.
Ephesians 5:25-30 NASB
The man is to see the wife as just as precious as Christ sees the church. He is to treat her with the same care and respect and love that he treats himself.
Do our relationships reflect Christ’s relationships with us? Are we seeking to treat others in the same way that Christ would treat us? If not, we are failing in our responsibility to Christ and to our loved one. We must have a relationship that points to Christ.
