The Weeping Prophet, Day 4

Start with hope. Read Jeremiah chapter 4.

As we read this chapter, I am struck by the difference between the beginning of the chapter and the rest. God tells his people that there is hope, but then proceeds to explain what judgment for lack of repentance will look like. There is hope, if they will repent. But if they don’t… judgment is coming and it will be severe.

God has set the standards and expectations for us. If we fall short of those and turn away from him, we will be judged. But God offers mercy and forgiveness to those who will repent. He offers hope.

Do we recognize the hope that we have in Jesus? Have we accepted his grace and mercy? While our sin may be leading us towards judgment, God offers hope.
