Begin Again, Day 39

Accountability. Read Joshua chapter 24.

As we continue to begin again and are seeking the Lord, and we need to understand the way to maintain that commitment. Our consistency is through accountability. The Christian life is an individual decision. However, it’s also difficult to stay consistent. The best way to help with that is to initiate accountability. Find those people, those places, or in this case, even that thing that can stand and serve as a reminder of your commitment to Jesus Christ.

The people of Israel had made a commitment to follow the Lord. They went through and chose that decision. Joshua set up a rock as a way to remind them of that decision. While that rock would never actually say anything, it would be there, ever-present, ever watchful, and serve as that visual reminder of the commitment that was made that day.

What is your accountability? Is it a person who can speak into your life and call you out for things that you do wrong? Is it a letter or a picture of a reminder of someone or something that keeps you focused and grounded? What do you use to serve as a reminder of the commitment that you have made to God? If you don’t have one, choose one today. Renew your commitment and choose something to serve as accountability for you.
