Devotional – April 21, 2012

VERSE:
1 Kings 13:18–He said to him, “I also am a prophet like you, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water,'” But he lied to him.

TRUTH:
Unfortunately, many people out there have a message they claim is from God. They may even share verses from the Bible and give examples of great things that have been done. No matter what anyone says, we should always test their words against the truth of the Word of God itself. Know what God Himself has said so that we are not taken in and deceived by others who are falsely claiming God’s word.

RESPONSE:
Father, help me to be discerning and wise when I hear others sharing Your Word. Help me to see and follow those who are truly following You and avoid those who would cause me to disobey You.
