Devotional – April 27, 2012

VERSE:
1 Kings 19:18–“Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

TRUTH:
Elijah was depressed and felt alone. He had just won an amazing victory for God and then he was threatened and persecuted by Jezebel, the queen. Now he was hiding in a cave having something of a pity party when God came to him. Elijah told God that he was alone and that he was the only person who was still following God. God told Elijah that he was wrong. God said that there were over 7,000 people who still followed God. God’s perspective on a situation is always greater and more accurate than ours. Satan wants us to feel all alone, abandoned, and defeated. God wants us to know that with Him, we are never alone, and certainly not defeated.

RESPONSE:
Father, Your perspective is perfect, mine is flawed. You see things as they truly are. Help me to trust in Your perspective, even when I don’t see it. I will hold on to You and I know that with You, no matter what anyone else does, I am never alone.
