Book Review – The Principle of the Path by Andy Stanley
You will always end up at the destination that is at the end of the path that you choose. That is the guiding principle of the book by Andy Stanley. He masterfully shows how people can end up at the destination that they didn’t realize they were headed toward and wonder how they got there. Yet, they had chosen to get on the path that led to that destination, even if they didn’t realize it. Andy has a great writing style that really connects with the readers and this was a great book to read. The concepts in the book are excellent and will really work to help people take…

Now this serial killer has escaped and kidnapped her 7-year-old son. Claiming he was set up for the murder of her husband, the serial killer’s ransom demand is for her to find the real killer before he kills her son. Morgan together with her partner Russo and new Lieutenant Chase McAdams work together through twists and turns uncovering a plot of deception that goes far beyond…

Book Review – And Then the Rain by Karina Harris
I love reading Karina Harris. I enjoy her first two books (See more here) and I always look forward to her articles on the Sisters in Cahoots blog. So when I purchased her newest book “And Then the Rain,” I fully expected to enjoy it. However, to say that I enjoyed it is an understatement. I loved it! In this historical fiction novel set in the 1800s, ten year old Ella Ferguson leaves her mother and father and five younger siblings to go stay with her aunt because times are hard and her family can’t provide for her. Fast forward six years and Ella finds herself in love with Alec…

Book Review – Gateway Weddings by Myra Johnson
I have enjoyed reading the books from the Romancing America series and recently I read Gateway Weddings by Myra Johnson. In this book we meet three separate individuals all set in the state of Missouri. In the first story Valerie Bishop is dealing with post-traumatic stress following the senseless killing of her husband. She meet ex-con Healy who is also learning how to make a new start. The second story is about young Sailor Kern who has an opportunity to meet the romance novelist she’s dreamed about and finds that things are not always what they appear. The final story tells of Jilly Gardner who had left her foster family…

Book Review – Ohio Brides by Cara C. Putman
Ohio Brides is another book in the Romancing America series. This book by Cara C Putman contains three Christian romance stories. In this case the stories surround three siblings and is set in the 1940s. In each case, one of the Miller children find themselves presented with a crisis that causes them to look deeper at their relationship with God. One thing I really enjoy about this book is the openly Christian themes and explanations about faith. I found the first story a bit slow and not as interesting as the other two. I had difficulty relating to the characters in the first story. By contrast, I really enjoyed the second…

Book Review – Dangerous Deception by Anne Patrick
I have found another author to add to my favorites! I love reading Christian romantic suspense stories and I am so excited to have found Anne Patrick. In Dangerous Deception: A Short Story, journalist Gwen Jacobs just can’t forget the last dangerous assignment that ended so badly with the slaughter of an entire village. Now, a year later, she is given a chance to right those wrongs, but at what price? Philanthropist Jack Peterson is leading a group of humanitarians to a war torn country and agrees to bring along Gwen to do a story about the situation there, without realizing she may have an alternate purpose. This is an…

Book Review – Bible Facts for Fun! Old Testament by Wyatt Michaels
I stumbled across Wyatt Michaels’ book, “Bible Facts for Fun! Old Testament” while scrolling through Amazon. Not having much in mind as far as expectations go, I was delighted to find a fun, interactive quiz style book that is a great resource. This e-book is set up with instructions on how to use the links first and then dives into the questions. The reader is then presented with multiple choice answers and by clicking on the choice, the reader is taken to the next appropriate page to see if she got it right and wants to move on to the next question or if she got the question wrong and wants…

Book Review – Flirting with the Forbidden by Steven James
My husband is a huge Steve James fan and he recommended that I take a look at his book “Flirting with the Forbidden.” I know that Steve James is known for Christian suspense fiction, but also writes in other genres as well, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I found was a beautiful gem of a book that has wonderful insight while being entertaining. Each chapter of this book begins with an account from a character in the Bible. Steven James gives us a fictional account that builds on the Biblical account of that person. We can get a grasp for what that person,…
