Christian Devotional – April 26, 2017
Reading through Philippines 1:12-20, we find a man in prison who is thankful and grateful for his circumstances. Looking at this passage, it can be hard for those of us who have gone through tough times to really understand that while Paul is in prison, he is still glorifying God and seeing the big picture in terms of how the gospel is spreading. Paul recognizes that his circumstances are a direct cause of people coming to saving faith in Christ. When we look at our circumstances, do we see them in light of people coming to Christ? We are only to live to see Christ high and lifted up and…

We’re going to be spending the next several days going through Philippians. Taking a look at the first few verses in Philippians chapter 1, down through verse 11, we see Paul writing a letter to the believers at the church in Phillipi. He is sharing with them that he knows that they are not perfect yet, but that he also knows that God is working in them and through them. God has a desire and a goal for the people and Paul reminds them that is to make them into the likeness of Jesus Christ. As we look at our own lives, we must recognize that God has the same…

Read Philippians chapter 4 VERSE: Philippians 4:7–And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. TRUTH: What is standing guard over our hearts and minds? What do we allow to determine what we think about or dwell on? The gatekeeper of our hearts and minds should be the peace of God. Nothing should come into our hearts or minds without first passing through the peace of God. Worries or troubles are all easily dealt with when they have been filtered through the peace of God. RESPONSE: Father, I praise You and thank You for using Your peace to guard my…

Read Philippians chapter 3 VERSE: Philippians 3:7–But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. TRUTH: Any accomplishment or accolade that we receive as a result of work we’ve done on our own is nothing now since the only thing that matters is Christ. Through our relationship with Christ, we have come to know and understand that only the things which are done for Christ and through Christ will last; anything else will fall away. Are we striving today for things which will be gain for Christ or are we focused on anything else? Anything else is considered loss for Christ. RESPONSE: Father, I…

Christian Devotional – April 12, 2015
We just completed book 3 in Psalm, so let’s head over to the New Testament for a few days. Read Philippians chapter 1 VERSE: Philippians 1:10–so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. TRUTH: Notice, we’re not supposed to be looking for the good things in our life. We are to be looking for the best. What is God’s best for us? As we grown in our obedience and knowledge of Jesus and His will for our lives, we will be better able each day to discern the things that are God’s best for us. Don’t…
