The Decay Within – Production Diary, Part 6 – Cover Options
OK, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. It’s time to look at some pictures! “Are you decaying from the inside out? When others look at your life, what do they see? Someone who seems to have it all together with the perfect clothes, the perfect kids, and the perfect marriage? But what’s behind that perfect façade? Who are you on the inside? We may look like we have it all together, when, in reality, we’re rotting away like the bones inside a beautifully decorated tomb. God sent Amos to give the people of Israel a message of judgment and destruction. They looked like they had it all together, but their focus was on the pleasures of this world. In this Bible study, the reader will work through the words of Amos as he pleads with the people of Israel to replace their decaying foundation with one that is living, fresh, and whole. Amos’s words will resonate with 21st-century readers who encounter the same challenges in new forms. Are you tired of acting like you have it all together when inside you’re falling apart? Join author Kristi Burchfiel as she guides you through a study on how to experience abundant life and drive out The Decay Within.”
My cover designer really took the information and gave me some interesting and unique choices. I need to make a choice quickly so we can move on through the process, but I wanted to open it up for comment and see what you think about their creations. I welcome comments, ideas, and thoughts. What strikes you? What would make you want to pick up the book if you were walking along a shelf of books? What would entice you enough to want to turn the book over to see the back?
Speaking of the back, I’ve got the finalized version of the backmatter now as well. Just to warm you up to the pictures, here’s what will be on the back.
Now remember, these are all “rough” but you can certainly get the idea of what they would look like. My choice is due back by the end of the week and I already have a favorite. Thoughts, everyone?

Number 3 is the most eye catching

I am leaning toward number 3 myself. I think that is the most dramatic and different from “most” Bible studies and would get people to pick up the book and take a look. I’m not totally decided, though… I have a couple more days.

#2 for sure. I spoke with my wife Emily and She agrees. #2 would draw her eye on the book shelf.
