Principles of Leadership, Day 2

Accountability. Read James 3:1.

Whhen we think about the leadership, many people aspire to be in positions of leadership and authority. They want all of the benefits that seem to go along with the position and the role. However, here we see that one key component of leadership is accountability. James is reminding the people that those who are in positions of leadership and authority, like the teachers of the word, actually are held to a higher standard. There is more expected of them.

You see, when you’re a leader, people watch you and mimic you. People imitate you. Your life is on display for others to examine. While many people want the benefits of leadership, they are not prepared for the additional accountability that comes with it. How closely do you want others to examine your life? What would they find if they did?

When we think about leadership, we must be prepared for the accountability that goes with it. We must continually stay surrendered to Christ and allow him to lead us as that is the only way to to provide an example to others that they should follow.
