Joshua, Day 15

What do we ask God for? Read Joshua chapter 15.

The Bible continues to record the various territories that were given to the tribes as they conquered through the promised land. In this chapter, Caleb, who we saw in previous chapters, asks for someone who is brave to go and conquer a certain area and then that person can marry his daughter. A man steps up and does that. Then we see that the land that they conquered didn’t have water. So Caleb’s daughter goes back and asks her father for something additional, water. Her father gave that to her.

Do we ask our father for what we need? Often we spend time complaining to God and telling God what we wish we had, but do we genuinely come to him like a child and ask for what we need, expecting him to answer. Sometimes, we will come to him about things that we want, not what we need. But in this case, Caleb’s daughter was asking for something they genuinely needed.

As we look at what we genuinely need, are we discussing that with our heavenly father and do we ask him? Our father desires to provide for us. He knows our needs even before we know them. Yet we can still come to him in faith, and ask him for what we need.
