The Savior Comes, Day 10
Be careful what you are afraid of. Read Matthew chapter 10.
Jesus is sending out his disciples. Throughout this chapter, Jesus tells his disciples to go and do what he has been doing among the people. The disciples are to heal the sick and to forgive sins and to teach the people what Jesus has been teaching them. However, he acknowledges that they will be afraid.
There were going to be times and places where people were not going to like them and they would be called names and persecuted. Jesus reminds them that if people did that to him, they will do that to them. So what should they be afraid of? Jesus reminds the disciples, that they should be afraid of the one who has the ability to Impact their spiritual bodies, not their physical bodies.
The people of this world, the worst they can do is kill us. However, so much worse things can happen then just death. Jesus reminds the disciples that eternity is a very long time and is much more important than the physical body that the person has now. We should not be afraid of the people who can only impact our physical bodies. We must keep our fear and respect and reverence for the one who is over are spiritual body. We are to fear the Lord and respect him.
Are we keeping the correct perspective today? Are we following the Lord no matter what other people around us might threaten? The Lord is the only one we need to fear.
