A Prayer for You, Day 2

Praying for love and knowledge. Read Philippians chapter 1, focusing on verses 7-11.

As we see, Paul continues to mention his prayers for the people of Philippi. He mentions an unusual pairing. We often think of the importance of praying for other people. Praying that people show love can be crucial. But for Paul, this prayer is that love would abound and that it would be in knowledge of God.

While we might not think of love and knowledge as going together, we cannot separate them. Our love for people is what drives us to know them more and understand them more. Our love for Christ, it drives us to understand and know more about Christ. If we are going to be loving others, it must be as Christ loves them. Christ knows and understands the truth of what it is right and what is not. He does not love that which is not right. Christ loves people enough to help them become more like him.

Our love is to mimic God’s love for others. We’re to love people and we are to demonstrate that love in the truth and the knowledge of who Christ is. Are we demonstrating true love to other people, and praying for them to have the experience of love and knowledge in their lives today.
