The Voice of the Prophet, Day 43

A forgetful God? Read Isaiah chapter 43.
We’ve often talked about that fact that God does not remember our sins. But a statement like that begs the question as to whether or not that means God is forgetful? A forgetful God would also not remember other things, such as their promises or their commandments.
However, God is not a forgetful God. He fully remembers absolutely everything. He makes a choice to no longer remember our sins when we have come to him in repentance. This makes an even bolder statement about how God treats our sin than just his forgiveness of them. If we come to him in repentance, it’s not that he forgets our sins and doesn’t remember them, it’s that he chooses not to remember them anymore. He makes a conscious choice to forgive us and not hold us accountable to the sins that we committed.
As we accept Jesus Christ as our savior, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. God’s incredible choice to not remember our sins is a sign of his power, not of his forgetfulness. Are we coming to God in repentance today?
