The Voice of the Prophet, Day 53

Jesus’s punishment. Read Isaiah chapter 53.

This entire chapter of Isaiah is foretelling of the messiah, Jesus Christ. Through this chapter, we read all about the suffering that Jesus goes through on our behalf. We learn that this messiah will be the sacrifice that will pay the penalty for the sins of the world. Even as we see in this verse, he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our sins. The punishment that brought us peace was upon him. By his wounds we are healed.

The reason we have peace in our life is because the punishment that we deserved was brought upon Jesus instead. He paid the penalty for the sins that we committed and still commit. As we read through this chapter, we come to understand just how much God loves us that he was willing to sacrifice his son, so that we could be healed. He is the reason we were able to be made right with God. Have we accepted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in our lives?
