Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 20

The king tells them to come out of the fire. Read Daniel 3:26.
If you’ve ever grabbed ahold of a hot pan, you understand that you generally don’t have to be told to let go of something that’s on fire. Typically, that happens automatically. Your body’s response is to let go of something that you’ve grabbed that’s too hot.
However, these 3 men, after having been thrown into a fiery furnace that killed other people, were walking around in there like it was nothing. They had to be told to come out. The king, who threw them in, was the one who told them to come back out.
In reviewing this situation, it’s such an interesting reminder that no matter what we do or what the circumstance, we can know that God is greater than anything else that we’re going go through. God is more than any challenge we will ever face. These men were experiencing incredibly challenging circumstances with a leader who wasn’t following God and yet they stayed true to their integrity. God humbled the leader. The king was the one who had to admit that they had to come out. He had them thrown in there, but he could not bring them out. They walked out because of God’s intervention in their life.
Do we recognize that only God can bring us through and bring us out of the terrible, challenging circumstances that we find ourselves in. We can’t try to bring ourselves out. Only God makes the way for that to be possible.
