ADHD Gospel, Day 44

You don’t know. Read Mark 10:32-45.

When you are a leader, you get asked some really odd questions. There is an assumption about what you are doing and the way that you are leading. Sometimes, you make decisions on limited information and often people don’t understand the big picture. That can result in people asking for some very odd things that don’t align with your thoughts or vision. This is simply because they don’t know.

Jesus had two of his disciples ask him if they could be leaders and his next in command. Unfortunately, they really didn’t know what they were asking. They didn’t know the vision and they didn’t see the plans. So, when they asked Jesus if they could sit at his right and left hands in positions of power, they really didn’t know what they were asking for. Jesus knew that and instead, used this as an opportunity to talk about what was being reflected in their hearts.

There are so many times that I’m sure God listens to our prayers and thinks about how we just don’t know what is going on. We don’t see things the way that he sees them and as a result, we struggle to really even know what to pray or how to pray. I know that I want my desires and requests to align with what God wants in my life, but so often, I don’t really know what that is. I have to take my time to seek God and rely on Him and then ask Him for whatever is going to be pleasing to Him. I know that what I would typically want for myself isn’t going to be what is best for me. I need God’s best and I want my life to glorify Him.

Are we seeking God’s best and realizing that he may often tell us that we don’t know what we are asking for? Only He sees the big picture.
