Christian Devotional – June 22, 2015

Read Mark chapter 2

VERSE:

Mark 2:12–He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

TRUTH

Just a few verses earlier, Jesus had forgiven the man’s sins. Instead of praising, this was met with skepticism. Then, when the people could see the miracle, they praised and rejoiced. But God’s ability to forgive our sins is just as great, if not greater miracle than giving the man back use of his legs. Are we so focused on seeing a great miracle from God, so amazing physical wonder that we discount the miracle of forgiveness of sins. Let us never dismiss or discount the miracle that is Jesus Christ forgiving our sins, but instead praise Him and rejoice and exclaim, “We’ve never seen anything like this!”

RESPONSE:

Father, Your forgiveness is truly amazing! You have taken what was lost and doomed to hell and You have forgiven me with Your mercy and sacrifice. I will never know a greater miracle than that! Keep me focused on the miracle that is the forgiveness of sins!
