The Coming Savior, Day 6
Encouragement in the midst of discouragement. Read Exodus chapter 6.
The israelite people were upset with Moses. Moses had said he was there from the Lord to deliver them. However, after Moses spoke with Pharaoh, the Israelites work was harder than ever. They were discouraged and downcast. So, when Moses came back and said to them that they should trust in him and rejoice in the Lord and that God was going to continue to deliver them, they were not excited.
When we are going through difficulties and discouragement come it can be really hard to get excited about the promises of God. It’s so hard to see past our circumstances. Yet, that is exactly what God is asking us to do in most cases. God sees beyond what we see. God knows more than we know. God is reminding us that we can be encouraged and rejoice in what God is going to do in the future, even when that’s not what we are experiencing in the present. Are we rejoicing in the Lord come even in the midst of our disappointment and discouragement?
