Book Review – A Star for Anana by Carolyn Davis
Life lessons are frequently easier for children to learn when animals are involved, which is why I so enjoyed “A Star for Anana” by Carolyn Davis. Anana is a polar bear cub who is busy being taught life lessons by her mother. However, she’s not always paying attention to her mother. When Anana and another young cub get lost, she’s able to remember the lessons her mother taught her, along with receiving help from a special star, in order to find her mother again. I really enjoyed the beautifully illustrated book. Carolyn’s writing style makes it possible to see and appreciate the all that the young cub is feeling and…

VERSE: 1 Corinthians 14:40–But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner. TRUTH: Paul has just given a lot of instruction on specific uses of gifts in the church. He ends with this general statement that is an excellent guide for how to conduct ourselves in all things and at all times. RESPONSE: Lord, as I go through my day today, help me to be orderly and proper so that You may be glorified.

VERSE: 1 Corinthians 12:21–And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you “; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” TRUTH: We are the body of Christ and we need each other. We cannot successfully carry out all that God has for us to do alone. Are we seeking to work together with other believers or do we try to work alone? VERSE: 1 Corinthians 11:1–Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ. TRUTH: What a bold statement! When we look at our life, do we feel confident enough in our walk with Christ to say to others, “If you want to see what Christ looks like, just look at me.”? This is to be our goal in allowing Christ to live through us every day. RESPONSE: Lord, I pray You will live through me and that I will submit to You so that when others look at me and my life, all they see is You.

VERSE: 1 Corinthians 10:13–No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also so that you will be able to endure it. TRUTH: God is faithful. Of all the promises in this verse, this one stands out. No matter what we are going through, God is faithful. He is there. He has been through it before and He is able to lead us through if we are willing to trust Him and place our faith in Him moment by moment.…

VERSE: 1 Corinthians 9:20–For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. TRUTH: Even though we have freedom in Christ, Paul recognized that God’s heart is to see others come to Him. Paul sacrificed everything to accomplish this goal. What are we willing to sacrifice so that others will come to know Christ?RESPONSE: Lord, because You live in me, Your goals are my goals. I pray that I will be willing to sacrifice everything to see others come to know You.

Production Diary – The Decay Within, Part 3 – Conceptual Editing
We’re a little ways into the month, but with the Fourth of July holiday, I think things got a little behind Tate’s original schedule. I am excited to share with you that I’ve just received official word that The Decay Within has moved from Copy Editing over to Conceptual Editing. So what is Conceptual editing? Well, copy editing dealt with grammar issues. Now, my conceptual editor is going to really go through the book and review it for the content. Does what I said on page 15 mesh with what I said on page 93. Would a particular statement be better in another spot? That sentence doesn’t make sense there and…

VERSE: 1 Corinthians 8:9–But take care that this liberty of Yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. TRUTH: Through Christ we have liberty and freedom. However, we must be careful how we use this freedom. We must remember that we are also responsible for the others who watch us and just see our actions, but not our motives, and may misunderstand why we do certain actions. How are we using our freedom in Christ? RESPONSE: Lord, I pray I will be obedient to You in all things so that any who may be watching would see my love for You and would not be misled by…
