Joshua, Day 9

The lie. Read Joshua chapter 9.

The israelites had been very successful in battle. As a result, several of the other area people became nervous and afraid. Many decided to form armies to fight against them. However, one group decided to try to trick the Israelites. They planned an elaborate scheme and were able to fool the israelites into creating a peace treaty with them. It says the israelites listened to their story and checked out what they could themselves, but they did not ask God about the situation.

So often, we can be deceived. We want to believe the best in someone or something. We do all of our due diligence to understand, and yet, we still end up deceived. However, one person would not have been deceived, God. God knew where these people were from and God knew their intent.

When we are facing situations, God is ultimately the one with the wisdom that we need to be seeking answers from. He can help us to understand what is truth and what is a lie. Are we relying on our own wisdom, or are we seeking God with every decision opportunity that we have?
