Why I Believe in Christ, Day 13

Fairness. Read Romans chapter 13.

God is fair and wants us to be fair as well. Jesus even made a statement about paying to Caesar what is owed to Caesar. We are to give people what they deserve. God wants us to give to him what he deserves as well. We shouldn’t try to cheat or shortchange people.

Later in the chapter, he talks about how love is the fulfillment of the law. It’s always interesting to see fairness alongside love. So often we see what people do, and our first reaction is not to love them, but to be upset with them or frustrated with them. Instead, God wants us to understand that he is fair and he is loving. God is the one who has been able to make those two things coincide together.

It is possible to be completely and totally loving, and yet to be completely and totally fair. Gid is the example of that. Are we being people of integrity? Are we being fair in all of the dealings that we have? We are to mimic Jesus.
