Uncertainty. No one likes to feel that they don’t know what is going on. Yet, honestly, we spend more time not really understanding all that is happening than anything else. Joseph’s brothers had no idea what was going on, but they were trying to make sense of it and do the right thing. Read Genesis 43:16-23.
We have also brought down other money in our hand to buy food; we do not know who put our money in our sacks.”
Genesis 43:22 NASB

The brothers were afraid. They didn’t know how things happened last time and they desperately wanted to just buy grain, get their brother and go. But, they also sought to do the right thing. They were trying to pay for the grain from the first time.
They didn’t have to try to do that. No one had accused them of anything. But they knew that the money had been back in their bags, so they were just trying to do what they knew. When we are faced with difficult and challenging situations, do we trust God and just do what we know, realizing that He understands the full implications of what is going on better than we ever will? Part of following God is doing so even when we don’t know where He is leading us. Will we follow Him even when we don’t understand?
