Christian Devotional – December 18, 2019

What is the meaning of Christmas? As we go through the season, we often ask ourselves this amidst the hustle and bustle of all the stuff that goes on this time of year. Read Luke 2:11.

for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Why do we celebrate Christmas? Because God came to Earth in the form of a baby to live the perfect life that we could not live as the sacrifice for our behalf. God, the holy perfect God, became flesh to live among us. Such an amazing and incredible truth!

This is why we celebrate Christmas. This is the reason why any of the celebrations that happened this time of year matter. Because God came and rescued us. We could not get to God on our own. He had to come to us. As we continue to prepare our celebrations and get togethers and time with family and friends this year, never lose sight of the fact that the reason we celebrate is because God came to provide a way for us have a relationship with him. That is the meaning of Christmas.
