Christian Devotional – February 12, 2020

Day 43 – The House of God. With all they were committing to cover the people did not forget to care for the house of God. Read Nehemiah 10:37-39.

We will also bring the first of our dough, our contributions, the fruit of every tree, the new wine and the oil to the priests at the chambers of the house of our God, and the tithe of our ground to the Levites, for the Levites are they who receive the tithes in all the rural towns. The priest, the son of Aaron, shall be with the Levites when the Levites receive tithes, and the Levites shall bring up the tenth of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers of the storehouse. For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the contribution of the grain, the new wine and the oil to the chambers; there are the utensils of the sanctuary, the priests who are ministering, the gatekeepers and the singers. Thus we will not neglect the house of our God.

As the people were going through and reiterating their commitment to God, they also included their commitment to the house of God. The church. They were going to take care of the church. They made a commitment to bring all of the things that the church and the church leaders would need to be able to continue minister and sharing God’s word.

Do we support those people who are sharing and spreading the word? As we look around our world today, we seen many areas and agencies and opportunities to be able to help people share the word of God. We as believers in Jesus Christ are the temple of God, and are we taking care of ourselves? Do we feed ourselves the way we should? Do we exercise and care for our health the way we should?

What additional focus do we need to have on the house of God today? What other areas should we be mindful of as we renew our commitment to following God?
