Praising the Word, Day 9

What is valuable to you? Read Psalm 119:65-72.

There’s an old saying that if you want to know what is important to someone, take a look at their spending habits. You can review a bank statement or any kind of record of spending habits and get a pretty good idea of what’s important to someone. If we think something is important to us, we will spend money on it. The same could be said about our time. If you want to know what’s truly valuable to somebody see how they spend their time.

Today, the psalmist is talking about how important God’s word is, that it is more precious to him than silver and gold. What are we willing to spend in time or in money on the things of God? Can we truly say that we love God and that he’s the most important thing in our life, when we barely spend 5 minutes reading his word each day?

Today is a day to take inventory of our life and determine what has the actual priority. Not what we wish had the priority, but what actually is important to us. We need to understand if what actually is important to us has that top priority spot? If not, we need to make changes. What else are we doing to be able to put Christ first in our life. Do we love God’s word and value it as much as the psalmist did?
