Day 29 – Strengthen me. How does Nehemiah respond? Check this out. Read Nehemiah 6:8-9.
Then I sent a message to him saying, “Such things as you are saying have not been done, but you are inventing them in your own mind.” For all of them were trying to frighten us, thinking, “They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.

There are two things here that Nehemiah does to respond. Lies are being spread about him and shared among the entire Kingdom. Yet Nehemiah’s only focus is on these two things.
The first, he speaks the truth. He shares that what they are saying is not true. He doesn’t go into lots of detail and he doesn’t worry about trying to argue with the people. He simply states the facts. And second, he asks God to strengthen him. He knows he needs God’s strength to make it through these difficult times with the charges and accusations against him. However, he doesn’t waste time trying to argue back-and-forth with these people. He simply states the truth and asks God for strength.
When we are facing opposition, we don’t need to waste our time trying to argue at the people who are accusing us of things. We simply need to state the truth and then ask God for strength.
