The God who Hears, Day 6

History repeating itself. Read 1 Samuel chapter 6.

The Philistines found themselves in a difficult situation. They had captured the Ark Of God, however they were experiencing plagues that were killing their people as a result. They realized that the Ark of God was fighting against them. Interestingly, they knew the stories of how the people of Israel had come out of Egypt. They knew that pharaoh had hardened his heart and as a result many people had died. So, they decided to not relive that part of history. They decided to give the Ark back.

When we read the Bible and we look through the stories of people that we know and how God has used them, do we understand and recognize that God continues to move in our life as well? We can see how God moved in the lives of others, and realize that God will move in the same or similar ways with us. Do we understand history so that we don’t repeat the bad parts of history?

Studying and reading The Bible is crucial, not just for gaining knowledge, but for gaining understanding and wisdom through the Holy Spirit of how God is moving and working in our lives today. God is not just a God of history, he is a God who wants to teach us in the present so we can impact the future through Him.
