What was the last thing that you asked God for? What about the last thing you were seeking from God? We often spend a lot of time asking God for things but not nearly enough time seeking and knocking. See Luke 11:1-28, paying special attention to verses 9 and 10.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.

We often know a lot about asking, but are not nearly as good at seeking and knocking. Seeking implies that we recognize that we are missing something. Knocking implies that we are on a journey and have not yet arrived. If we’re not careful, asking just becomes about greed and pride, but the other two are what keeps us grounded. We are to be doing all three. We are on a journey and there are things that are missing in our lives that God wants to provide to us, such as love and patience among other things. If we are spending all our time asking God to just give us stuff then we will miss out on all that God has for us to learn by seeking and knocking. Seek after Him today and knock as you go through your journey today. God has more He wants to give you than what you are currently experiencing.
