Read Jonah chapter 1

VERSE:

Jonah 1:2–“Go to the great city of Ninevah and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.

TRUTH:

Have you ever felt like God was telling you to do something that terrified you. What about times when He told you to do something that made you mad? For Jonah, this command did both at the same time. He was so terrified and angry that he ran from God and tried desperately to get away from God and God’s plan. Of course, that didn’t work out very well and he ended up getting an all-inclusive 3 night stay in the belly of a large fish. When we get terrified or angry about what God is leading us toward, do we run away? Do we argue with God? Or do we pray and ask Him to turn our hearts to obedience and love of God? He will never lead us astray and we must realize that He has purpose for everything that He directs. Will we accept and obey?

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that there are times when I’m slower to accept and obey than others. Thank You for Your patience with me as I continue to learn to obey. I pray that You will give me Your wisdom and Your perspective so that I can see what You are looking at and do Your will to glorify You.
