VERSE:
Jonah 2:8–Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.
TRUTH:
What are we clinging to? There are many areas of our life that we like to try and control. We cling to these things with a ferocity and tenacity that is quite amazing at times. Yet, how many of these things would be best described as “worthless idols?” We so often think so much of those things which in actuality are worth nothing. We cling to them with a grip strength that would rival the world’s greatest rock climbers. But, often the question is not what are we holding on to, but what are we giving up. If we continue to cling to these things, we are giving up and turning away from the love that God has for us. Will we cling tightly to God and Him only instead of turning away from all that He has for us by clinging to worthless idols.
RESPONSE:
Father, You see my heart and You know what I cling to. I pray that You will help me to let go. You are truly the only thing I want to cling to and I never want to lose out on Your love and Your best for me.
