Christian Devotional – June 13, 2019

The Christian life is worth fighting for. And make no mistake, it will be a fight. It’s a fight against our own sinful desires, a fight against complacency, a fight against evil. Read 1 Timothy 6:12.

Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Paul knew that all the things he had just been telling Timothy we’re not going to come easily. Fleeing what’s evil and pursuing what is right would not be a simple thing to do. There would be opposition. There would be distraction. This life of following Christ will be a fight. And, it’s going to be the same for all of us.

We have to make a choice that we are willing to be in this for the long haul, no matter what distractions and opposition comes up, because it will come up. We have to fight a good fight. We have to hang on with all that we have to the things that we know to be true, even when everything around us looks like it’s falling apart. At the end of the day, Christ will overcome and those of us who are in him will overcome, too. No distractions. Simply standing and fighting through the truth of Jesus Christ.
