Hope, Day 14

Stand strong. Read 1 Peter 5:8-10.

As Christians, we all know we have an enemy out there. That will come as no surprise to see the Bible explain that we have our enemy Satan seeking to devour us like a roaring lion. Many have heard this verse before and understand the impact that Satan has in the world today.

However, it’s important to recognize that our responsibility is to stand firm, or strong. We don’t have to go out and provoke things. Our job is to stand. This verse reminds me a lot of all the verses that we saw in Joshua when we studied through that book. The whole point of that book was to stay strong and courageous. Here, Peter tells us to be strong.

We are to hold the line. We are to make sure that no matter what the enemy is planning, he doesn’t gain ground. We are to draw a line around here our homes. We are to draw a line around our family. We are to draw a line around every area of our life and recognize that is an area where we need to stand strong. We are to be strong against the enemy. Are we actively resisting the devil and standing firm in what we know to be the truth of God? If we have our hope in Christ, we will stand firm.
