Observations from the Doctor, Day 27

Are you getting what you deserve? Reach Luke chapter 23.
Most of us complain about wanting to receive what we feel we deserve. We want to get the good things in life that we feel like we have earned. Yet, if we really are honest with ourselves, do we want what we truly deserve? When we consider all the wrongs that we have done and the mistakes, do we really want what we are deserving of?
We can get a mistaken impression that we should be held accountable based on our intentions, not on our actual actions. Yet, we hold others accountable based on their actions. Still, God sees our intentions and knows everything about us, including our selfish thoughts and ego-centric ideas. Realizing all this, do we really want what we deserve?
Jesus was being crucified. He didn’t deserve it. There were two other criminals that were crucified at the same time. One of them was mocking Jesus as well, but the other made the statement that while they deserved to be punished, Jesus didn’t deserve what was happening to him. He didn’t deserve it, but he was taking our place. We, like the sinner on the cross, must understand that we deserve the death that Jesus was dying, but he didn’t deserve it. Are we accepting the gift of salvation that Jesus purchased on our behalf so that we don’t receive what we deserve?
