The Message – #38
The living are to praise God. Read Isaiah chapter 38 and focus on verse 19.
“It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today; A father tells his sons about Your faithfulness.
Isaiah 38:19 NASB
Hezekiah has become ill. He is so ill, in fact, that God tells him that he is going to die. Hezekiah then prays to God and begs God to heal him and because of his prayer, God makes the decision to allow him to live another 15 years. In response to this, Hezekiah writes the rest of this chapter explaining his praise to God.
He reminds everyone that it is those who are living who have the responsibility to praise and worship God. Are we taking every opportunity while we are living to praise and to worship God for who he is, for what he’s done, and for all that he’s going to do? God is truly over all things and he is in control of our lives. Our responsibility while we are living is to praise him and lift him up and share him with everyone we are around. Are we doing that? Can we do that more?
