Book of Revival, Day 15

Openhanded. Read Deuteronomy chapter 15.

As Moses continues to share the laws, we see this chapter on debt. How do we handle owing people money, and having people owe us money? This verse really stands out to me because of the phrase open handed. We are to have an open handed relationship with the people around us.

We must remember that everything we have comes from God. We do not need to receive from other people because we are receiving from God. When others are reaching out to us or are in need and asking for our help, we can easily and freely give to them with an open hand, expecting nothing in return.

This is to be our approach to people, regardless of whether we are talking about money, possessions, time, or even forgiveness. We are to give freely and keep an open hand with the people in our lives. When we try to hang on too tightly to people, often we lose them. We need to remember that God is the supplier of everything we need and we are to cling to Him, so we do not need to cling to people.

Are we clinging to God and keeping an open hand with the people around us today?
