The Voice of the Prophet, Day 10

What do we rely on? Read Isaiah chapter 10.

Isaiah is prophesying about the judgment that is coming for the land of Assyria. They have been brutal to their enemies, and the people of Israel have been tormented by them. God is explaining that judgment is coming. As a result, we see that God reminds the people of Israel that he is going to be the one they rely on.

In the past, they had tried to make deals with Assyria. They had tried to negotiate their way through the situation, and Isaiah wants them to understand that the time is coming when they will not rely on Assyria for their protection. They will not rely on Assyria for their needs, such as food. Instead, they will rely on God.

As we go through the day, what are we relying on? Are we recognizing that God is truly the one that meets our needs? God is truly the one that provides for us through every situation. He can use a variety of different means to be able to do that, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is the source of our provision.

Isaiah is prophesying that there will be a day when the people of Israel rely solely on God for all of their needs. For us, is that day today? Are we relying on anything else besides God to meet our needs?
