The Voice of the Prophet, Day 16

In love, in faithfulness, and in judgment. Read Isaiah chapter 16.

We see such an incredible picture of the coming messiah in this chapter. Isaiah shares the message that God is going to bring the one and establish a throne for Him in love. That one from the house of David will then sit in faithfulness, and he will sit in judgment over everyone with the purpose of spreading righteousness.

Sometimes it can be difficult to think of those three things going together, but they all do. True love is demonstrated in the faithfulness, and the judgment that comes from God. God is all of those things together at the same time, and while we may have difficulty thinking about judgment being the same as love, you truly cannot have one without the other. Godly love can only be defined through what God says love is. Anything outside of that is to be judged.

Because of God’s coming judgment, he created a way to be faithful and to allow his love and faithfulness to be demonstrated to others. That is why Jesus Christ had to come. Jesus coming and living the life on Earth that he did is a fulfillment of all that God has said is required. That is why we are to devote ourselves to God and put him above everything else in our lives. Are we putting God in the highest place?
