The Voice of the Prophet, Day 19

Egypt. Read Isaiah chapter 19.

As the Lord continues his judgments on the cities and countries surrounding Israel, we see him explain what’s going to happen to Egypt. This was probably an incredibly odd prophecy to the people of Israel. Yes, he prophesied that Egypt would be judged and destroyed, which wouldn’t have been that unusual, but then he spends a lot of time explaining how Egypt is going to be brought back and that it will be a centerpiece of worship of the one true God.

Many people probably struggle to think of Egypt as a place of worship of the Lord, even today. We look at Egypt with all it’s various religions and have a hard high thinking about a time when the people of Egypt will primarily enjoy a relationship with the one true God. We can know that that day is coming. God has said it will come.

Whether prophecies have come true or have not come true, we can look and read through the Bible and understand that he is God over all. If there are prophecies that have not come true, we know that they will one day. There are many prophecies in the Bible that have been fulfilled, and we can view those as a reason to trust that all the remaining prophecies will also be fulfilled.

Are we looking at the Lord and seeing him as the one who is has done tremendous and amazing things? And, he will continue to do the tremendous and amazing things that he is shared with us in his word.
